DR JACQUELINE OVER

MB BCh Wales 1989 MRCGP DCH

Jackie became a partner in the practice in 1995. She trained at the University of Wales College of Medicine and completed her GP training in South Wales and Bermuda. Her interests are family planning, gynaecology, asthma and palliative care. Jackie works part-time and is available in the practice on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Jackie is a trainer, and looks after registrars.

DR EMMA BOWEN SIMPKINS

MB BCh Wales 1993 DRCOG DFFP MRCGP

Emma qualified in 1993 in Wales, and in addition to her hospital training has worked as a GP in Hong Kong. Her areas of special expertise are Family Planning, Gynaecology, Menopause, and Child & Family Mental Health. Emma is a trainer, and looks after registrars.

DR MATTHEW DE QUINCEY

BA MB ChB Cambridge 1989 DRCOG DCCH MRCGP

Matt joined the practice in 1997. He did the first half of his medicine at King’s, Cambridge, but escaped to graduate in History of Modern Philosophy and Ethics; then doing the second half (his clinical training) in Edinburgh, and qualified in 1989.He is interested in combining his rigorous old-style medical learning with his philosophical interests, in pluralism and narrative medicine, and what it is to be a generalist in medicine. Matt is also an educational supervisor for F2 doctors.

DR JULIAN BARBER

MB BS MRCP MRCGP

Jules joined the practice in 2009. He qualified from University College London in 1998. He has spent time working as a GP in Hampshire and Devon, and several years working in hospital medicine in the West Country and New Zealand. His interests are kidney medicine, high blood pressure and diabetes. Jules is a trainer, and looks after registrars.

DR ALEXANDER GOODMAN

MBBS BSc (Hons) MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH

Alexander joined the Practice in August 2017. He graduated from Kings College London School of Medicine in 2008. He worked for a number of years in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before commencing GP training in Hampshire. Alexander’s interests include women’s health and mental health. Alexander is an GP trainer, and looks after registrars. His working days are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Dr Goodman is also the Caldicott Guardian for Chawton Park Surgery.

DR PIPPA SEALY

Dr Sealy joined the Practice in June 2020. Dr Sealy is a retainer GP and will work Monday and Tuesdays.

Dr O'Riordan joined the Practice in January 2021 and works Tuesday and Thursday

DR CATHERINE STANDING

Dr Standing joined the Practice in November 2022. Catherine will work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Dr Standing is currently on maternity leave

Dr Parrott joined the Practice in January 2024 and works Tuesday AM, Wednesday all day and Friday AM

GP Registrars

The practice has been selected to train hospital doctors in the skills of General practice. The Registrars come to us after having completed a minimum of three years in hospital specialities. Nowadays many of them have a significant amount of experience and have developed areas of expertise. In order to set out on a career path in General practice they must spend a year in a training practice such as ours.

DR ANJILA RAI

Dr Rai is an ST3 under the supervision of Dr Over. Dr Rai joined us in August 2023 and will be with us for 12 months

DR MEGAN ROBERTS

Dr Megan Roberts is an F2 who joined the team in April 2024 and will be with us for 4 months is under the supervision of Dr Matt de Quincey

Nurses

LINA PORTER

Lina leads our practice nurses team. Along with day to day nursing clinics, Lina reviews patients for asthma reviews, completes smear tests and administers baby immunisations.

SARAH MARKS

SRN

Sarah's particular interest is in the management of our travel vaccine advice, baby immunisations, chronic kidney disease and minor aliments. Sarah is also research trained.

CAROLINE APPLEBY

Along with day to day nursing clinics Caroline also manages the care of our diabetic patients.

Katie is a member of the Practice Nurse team

Healthcare Assistants

ANGELA WILMSHURST

Angela can perform blood tests, blood pressures, ECGs, 24 hour BP monitoring, phlebotomy, dressings, flu vaccinations and assist with minor ops. Angela is also research trained.

LISA HOOKER

Lisa can perform blood tests, blood pressures, ECGs, 24 hour BP monitoring, phlebotomy, dressings, flu vaccinations and assist with minor ops. Angela is also research trained.

Health Practitioners

Fiona, Kandy, Suresh and Helen are our First Contact Physiotherapists and are based with the Practice. They are all highly skilled Physiotherapists who are able to see patients who have muscle and joint problems. This is a triage service. The team are able to advise on exercise and they have any queries will work closely with the GP Team. The team are also able to refer on to appropriate services, if needed. The First Contact Physiotherapists work across the A31 Group of Practices offering physiotherapist triage services. Appointments are available via the reception team and Chawton Park Surgery and The Wilson Practice.

Nikki manages all the prescription generation and prescription queries for the practice.

Patient Co-Ordinators

Patient Co-Ordinators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Patient Co-Ordinators make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. The team comprises; Amanda, Sam, Ewa (speaks Polish and Russian) , Charlotte L, Kim, Selena, Emily, Charlotte M, Sue and Hannah.

Secretaries

Our secretarial team work very closely together and manage the administration of all referral and patient letters. If you have any queries they can be contacted via the reception team. The secretarial team comprises; Debbie (Senior Secretary), Abbie and Jane.

Pharmacists

Our pharmacy team consists of Carol and Sanam who are clinical pharmacists and Cassie (pharmacy technician) who are multi-skilled and aid the GP teams across the Primary Care Network to support patients with chronic disease management and prescription queries.

Community Midwives

Community Nurses

There is a community nursing team that works in the community. They are responsible for nursing care in the community. Special leg ulcer clinics are provided by the nursing team on a Thursday morning, based at Alton Community Hospital.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are registered nurses with additional community training. The aim of the health visiting service is to improve the health of the population it works within. The focus of our work is with families with children of pre-school age. We can be contacted via the surgery, and can discuss issues within the clinic or at home. A qualified nursery nurse has recently joined the team and assists us in our work. The health visitors run a baby clinic on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month in the morning (09:30 - 10:30), and are available to advise on a whole range of issues about your children's wellbeing - from diet and sleep problems through to potty-training.
