October marks the return of Stoptober, the national campaign that helps people quit smoking and start living healthier, smokefree lives. Whether you’ve been thinking about giving up for a while or this is your very first attempt, now is the perfect time to take that step.
Why join Stoptober?
- Health benefits: Your body starts to heal within hours of quitting. Breathing becomes easier, energy levels improve, and your risk of serious illness drops over time.
- Money savings: Smoking is expensive. Many people are surprised at how much they save each week once they stop buying cigarettes.
- Support and encouragement: You won’t be doing this alone. Stoptober brings together thousands of people across the country all quitting at the same time.
Local help and support
Here in our community, Smokefree Hampshire offers free, friendly advice and practical support to help you quit. Their team can provide personalised plans, access to stop-smoking aids, and encouragement every step of the way. Smokefree Hampshire are with us at Health on the High Street every Wednesday 10-2 @ Alton Assembly Rooms.
You can also download the free NHS Quit Smoking app, which tracks your progress, shows you how much money you’ve saved, and keeps you motivated throughout your journey.
