COVID Vaccination Information UPDATED 11/02/2021:
If you have received a letter from NHS England inviting you for a COVID vaccination please be advised the Practice has no control over these letters and we are unaware if you have received one. Therefore, the Practice will still invite you for an COVID vaccination, as we need to make sure that all our patients have been invited. If you have booked an appointment please disregard this invitation.
As you will know, the Covid vaccination programme is underway and some of our patients have already been able to receive the jab at Hampshire Court Hotel. Our staff have been proud to be part of a huge local effort to protect so many people, so quickly.
In time, a vaccine will be available for everyone, but at the moment the clear priority – nationally and for us – is to focus on the most vulnerable first, those aged 70 and over and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable. We have now started invite those aged between 65 - 69.
Please be reassured that we will be in touch with you when it is your turn. We know that many of you are keen to be vaccinated as soon as possible, but we must ask everyone to be patient – we are not holding reserve stocks of the vaccine and so cannot simply add in extra appointments. Calling or messaging the practice will not get you an appointment more quickly, but it will take our staff away from their other work.
The government has said that the vaccination process will be a marathon, not a sprint. It will take time to protect everybody, but we will be in touch with you all as soon as we possibly can. And while you wait for that invitation please remember to do the basics, to keep yourselves safe – wash your hands, cover your face, and give other people space.

Changes to keep patients safe during Covid-19
We are making some changes to the way we offer face-to-face appointments over the coming months.
We will be operating slightly differently, to help keep patients and staff safe, and to allow all patients to continue to get the support and care they need.
Please continue to contact your GP surgery in the usual way, via telephone consultation or eConsult. The healthcare team at your GP surgery will assess all requests, and will advise you if you need a face to face appointment, or a telephone or video consultation. Please do not attend your GP surgery unless you have been asked to do so.
We expect that the winter months, and the ongoing pandemic, will pose many challenges to the healthcare system.
To help us see patients safely, from 2 November the Old Basing Surgery will temporarily become the Winter Assessment Centre for the North Hampshire area. That means it will be the site for seeing, assessing and treating patients with winter viruses, including Covid-19.
This will allow us to continue to meet all of the needs of our other patients - for long-term conditions, immunisations, antenatal and postnatal care, contraceptive services, and cancer screening along with other routine general practice – without interruption.
This change will apply across the North Hampshire area, allowing each practice (including ours) to continue to provide normal general practice care, whilst also having a safe, separate site to see and treat those patients with winter infections.
All illnesses – not just Covid-19 – are important to us, and we are determined that our patients can be confident that they can get safe care, no matter what their concern.
Please work with your GP surgery by providing them with as much information as possible when you contact them so they can support you to access the right care over the next few months and keep everyone safe.
