Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Talking Therapies Hampshire

At NHS Talking Therapies Hampshire, we provide talking therapies to treat symptoms of common mental health conditions. We do not diagnose and we do not prescribe medication. To self refer you must: Be aged 16 or over at the time of your referral, be registered with a GP within the areas of Hampshire we cover. Not be under the care of any other mental health service, including counselling.

The work we do is varied and is tailored to the needs of each individual carer. Our focus is on giving carers accurate and up-to-date information on anything from disability aids to benefits claims as well as emotional support. We also run special support groups, act as carers’ advocates, liaise with Social Services, GPs, hospitals and the Benefits Agency amongst others and offer free counselling to carers by way of qualified voluntary counsellors.
