Dr Matthew De Quincey

Dr Matthew De Quincey (m)

BA MB ChB Cambridge 1989 DRCOG DCCH MRCGP

Matt joined the practice in 1997. He did the first half of his medicine at King’s, Cambridge, but escaped to graduate in History of Modern Philosophy and Ethics; then doing the second half (his clinical training) in Edinburgh, and qualified in 1989.He is interested in combining his rigorous old-style medical learning with his philosophical interests, in pluralism and narrative medicine, and what it is to be a generalist in medicine. Matt is also an educational supervisor for F2 doctors.

Dr Emma Bowen Simpkins

Dr Emma Bowen-Simpkins (f)

MB BCh Wales 1993 DRCOG DFFP MRCGP

Emma qualified in 1993 in Wales, and in addition to her hospital training has worked as a GP in Hong Kong. Her areas of special expertise are Family Planning, Gynaecology, Menopause, and Child and Family Mental Health. Emma is a trainer, and looks after registrars.

Dr Julian Barber

Dr Julian Barber (m)

MB BS MRCP MRCGP

Jules joined the practice in 2009. He qualified from University College London in 1998. He has spent time working as a GP in Hampshire and Devon, and several years working in hospital medicine in the West Country and New Zealand. His interests are kidney medicine, high blood pressure and diabetes. Jules is a trainer, and looks after registrars.

Dr John Metcalfe (m)

MBChB BMedSci (Hons) MRCGP

Dr Metcalfe joined the Practice in September 2024 and became a Partner in July 2025. Having qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2017, John spent his early years as a doctor in the West Midlands and Australia. He trained as a GP in Hampshire and joined the surgery in September 2024. He enjoys all areas of general practice. His role includes supporting a local residential home and the minor injuries unit within the surgery. When time allows, he enjoys getting out in the South Downs on foot or bike.

Dr Pippa Sealy (f)

Dr Sealy joined the Practice in June 2020. Dr Sealy is a retainer GP and will work Monday and Tuesdays.

Dr Catherine Standing (f)

Dr Standing joined the Practice in November 2022. Catherine will work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Dr O’Riordan joined the Practice in January 2021 and works Tuesday and Thursday.

Dr Thomas Parrott (m)

MBBS, MRCGP

Dr Parrott joined the Practice in January 2024. Tom’s first degree from KCL was in Philosophy, before graduating from KCL School of Medicine in 2015 and moving to Hampshire for further training. He enjoys the variety of General Practice, but his areas of particular interest are Dermatology and Palliative Care.

Dr Kazmi joined the Practice in September 2024. She qualified from University of Health Sciences, Pakistan in 2011 and moved to UK for further training. She trained as a GP in Hampshire. She enjoys variety of general practice, and her areas of interest are Menopause and family planning.

Dr Carlish joined the Practice in October 2024.

Dr Eleanor Sorsby (f)

Dr Sorsby qualified in December 2025 after completing her training at Chawton Park, and joined the Practice as a Salaried GP in December. Dr Sorsby works Monday, Thursday and Friday.

GP Resident

The practice has been selected to train hospital doctors in the skills of General Practice. The Residents come to us after having completed a minimum of three years in hospital specialities. Nowadays many of them have a significant amount of experience and have developed areas of expertise. In order to set out on a career path in General Practice they must spend a year in a training practice such as ours.

Dr Budhu Gurung (m)

Dr Gurung is an ST3 under the supervision of Dr Barber. Dr Gurung joined the team in August 2024.

Dr Bami Owonifari (f)

Dr Owonifari is an ST3 under the supervision of Dr Bowen-Simpkins. Dr Owonifari joined the team in August 2025 and will be with us for 12 months.

Dr Lee is an ST2 under the supervision of Dr Bowen-Simpkins. Dr Lee joined the team in February 2026 and will be with us for 6 months.
